Standardization of sanitary inspections in health services makes progress at Anvisa.

On May 18, the second Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) was drawn up within the framework of the Tripartite Working Group (WG) for the Management of Documents of the National Health Surveillance System (NHS) in Health Services and Health Interest. The SOP in question deals with the procedures for conducting sanitary inspections in health services.
This achievement is the result of collective construction together with representatives of the health surveillance agencies appointed by the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass) and by the National Council of Municipal Health Secretaries (Conasems). In the meantime, the Working Group also created templates for the inspection schedule, planning record, and inspection report, as well as the general guidelines for remote health inspection in health services.
Harmonization of Inspection Objectives Guidelines (ROIs)
The creation and organization of documents and standardized procedures are part of Anvisa’s strategic objectives and are part of the Improvement of the Sanitary Inspection Process in Health Services and Health Interests Project. This proposal aims to generate qualified and standardized actions throughout Brazil, as well as boost, improve, and strengthen the NHS.
Harmonization of Inspection Objectives Guidelines (ROIs – Roteiros Objetivos de Inspeção) is also part of this great project. For Anvisa, the use of scripts has a positive effect on the qualification of surveillance actions in the country, as it guarantees transparency, improves reproducibility, and points to the basis for a national information system, containing real and updated data.
In this way, the start of the 4th Stage of the Harmonization of ROIs, held on May 22nd, is yet another achievement to be celebrated for all those who work with surveillance in health services. The ROI for Clinical Analysis Laboratories is ROI number 16, which will be elaborated and harmonized together with the local sanitary surveillance agencies. All Brazilian states and 21 cities were invited to participate in this process, according to criteria established in advance.

Health services
When we talk about health services included in this improvement of inspection, we can divide them into two groups. First, services are directly related to health, where the level of control is greater and more delicate. The second group, which are the services of health interest, are those that indirectly work with health, that is, they need to be adequate because there are risks inherent in the activity that can directly affect the people involved.
Health services include hospitals, clinics, offices, milk banks, and clinical laboratories, among others. Now, services of interest to health include, for example, daycare centers, long-term care facilities for the elderly (LTCFs), beauty salons, and tattoo studios.
